Thank you for hanging out with me! From day to day you never know what life will throw at you. And it will often be this way in my blog as well :) But lest RUN WILD and LIVE FREE in this amazing adventure together!
Jayden had a writing assignment for school about his name. It kind of caught me off guard because we never really had a deep meaningful reason to name him Jayden. It was just the name we both liked. But after digging into his name I am quite fascinated!
When he was born in Guatemala his birth mother gave him the name Edgar Enrique Ical Xol. I never gave that much thought. Just knew I couldn’t see myself calling my son Ed or Edgar. So we decided to change his name when he came home. But did you know Edgar means fortunate and powerful? And that Enrique means head of household? These names were specifically picked for him, whether or not we all knew it or not at the time. Looking back how fortunate have we been to be able to have him as our son? And how fortunate was he to be able to come to America and have a loving birth mother in Guatemala who was willing to let him go to give him the best life possible! And after just the 9 years our son has been on this earth he has already shown how powerful he is in so many ways. He is physically, mentally and spiritually powerful. At his tender age of being a new born he was by all means not the head of a household. But this also denotes power and strength. Something he was going to need to be able to become our son, even as a baby. And to this day he has such a strong personality and one day he is going to be an amazing leader of his own household. God’s hand was in this child’s life from the day he was born.
The name Jayden also come from the bible. In the bible the name is spelled Jadon. The name Jayden means “God Has Heard”. How awesome! God has heard so much in his life. He heard his father and I praying for him and his future from the day he was conceived still through today as he is raised in our family and will become an adult. God heard his birth mothers heart and her love for her son and watched over her and Jayden through the entire process and again continues to do so. God Has Heard and continues to hear every big and small thing we bring to Him.
Though at this time Jayden doesn’t see the need or deep desire to understand the name his birth mother gave him, and that is ok, I know that this name along with the name we gave him were God breathed and handpicked for him! What a rich an amazing story he has and we didn’t even know it.
The Lyrics for the song “He Knows My Name” sum it up so well:
“I have a Maker
He formed my heart
Before even time began
My life was in hands
He knows my name
He knows my every thought
He sees each tear that falls
And hears me when I call
I have a father
He calls me his own
He'll never leave me
No matter where I go”
Jeremiah 29:11New International Version (NIV)
11 For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.
